A silent 33-second look: picking a book from the shelf, choosing the hero, the pop-up pages of The Thirsty Garden, The Snow Friend and The Little Cloud's Rainbow, and earning a pin for the pin board.

Their names. Their choices. Their story.

An iPad in portrait shows a snowy pop-up page: a white bunny on a red sled with a little crab and a yellow duckling, between two pine trees. Below, the page reads: Snug on the Sled. Snug on the sled, the friends sat still.

Every page pops up

Turn the page and a little 3D world unfolds: a snowy hill, a picnic glade, a balloon among the clouds. Tap the characters and see what they do.

The casting stage: a round pop-up stage on an open book, with a fox in front and a bear, a little green dragon, a bunny, a kitten and a unicorn waiting to be picked. A card says: Say hello to our hero! What's their name?

Your child names the hero

A fox, a bear, a bunny, a little dragon? Your child picks a hero and a friend, and names them both. The storyteller says those names on every page.

Twice in every book they choose what happens next, so tomorrow's read can go a different way.

A story page beside a pop-up snowy cabin with a fox, a duckling and a crab. The text reads: The morning was hushed and still. White snow drifted onto the cabin and the hill. Some words have a soft yellow highlight.

Read to me, or read along

A gentle storyteller reads every page aloud. Early readers can follow the words as they're read, tap any word to hear it, and, when they're ready, read a word or two themselves.

What the app tells parents, word for word

Popfables keeps your child's world on this iPad. The stories were written and checked before the app reached you. The names your child picks are woven in right here, and the storyteller's voice is made on the iPad itself. Nothing your child names, chooses or saves is sent to us or to any AI service: it stays on this iPad, and in your own iPad backup if you keep one. No accounts, no ads, no tracking.

Popfables only goes online to talk to Apple. At most once a day it asks whether a new version, with new books, is ready, telling Apple only which app is asking and which country's App Store to look in. The Sets screen asks the App Store for its prices, and buying or restoring a set happens there, between you and Apple. Popfables never sends anything about your child.

Read the privacy policy

A card in the reading room asks: Who's reading? Two pictures, a bunny for Mila and a kitten for Aisha, wait to be tapped.
